A meet with full of opportunities.
Learn tourism as a form of multicultural exchange, and as a policy and a business in addition to the traditional tourism industries such as the travel, hotel, and airline industries.
Understand the contemporary tourism issues from a global perspective, through studying various subjects that include tourism, business administration, policy science, and Kyoto environmental studies.
From the autumn semester in the first year, students can choose either one course: the "Tourism Policy Course," in which students will study tourism as a form of cultural policy, and the "Tourism Business Course," in which you will engage in the tourism business in a wide assortment of fields.
Department of Global Tourism places the following three pillars of education.
First of all, "To know your own culture and be interested in different cultures". Sometimes you may not feel comfortable with different cultures, but we would like to nurture talent who has willingly accepted it.
Next, "Make the best use of English." Students can acquire English that can be used in real situations, such as presentations and tourist information. And "Learn Kyoto as an example."
Develop academic societies that make the best use of the strengths of Kyoto, the international city of tourism. Learning practical know-how of Japanese hospitality is also our feature.
Language is important in the tourism industry, but what you need to pay more attention is nonverbal communication.
Even in words, the way to communicate, which is a non-linguistic element is important. The Japanese are good at receiving another person's feelings. A wonderful form of hospitality can be created by adding a power of outputting including non-verbal communication.
Human beings are essentially like sightseeing. People want to go the places they have never visited. That motivation is enough for learning.
It is okay, even if you are not good at English at the first place. Teachers will teach you heartily. Besides that, we welcome curious students who are interested in unknown worlds.
