Pre-admission Notice

After the written test, interview, based on the content of registration and examination results, participating universities will give "pre-admission" notification to candidates who meet their self-admission criteria.
These "pre-admissions" will be posted online or at designated venues on the dates indicated in the examination schedules.
In addition, the "pre-admission" is divided into four types of "OFFER". The eligibility conditions, tuition remission and scholarship and other treatment offered by each kind of "offer" are different, please note.
At the same time, these "pre-admissions" are internal decisions of each university. If candidates contact with the Examination Committee by phone or email to inquire about relevant matters, the Examination Committee can not answer any questions.

(1) Types of "Pre-admission"

"Pre-admission" is a qualification notice that comprehensive evaluates the candidates' current academic qualifications and themselves, including university admission funds, tuition fees, scholarships and other admission conditions.
As a prerequisite for this qualification to be translated into final admission, candidates need to master Advanced Japanese language ability. Some "pre-admission" requires candidates only to master Advanced Japanese ability to be admitted, while other "pre-admissions" require candidates to achieve certain results in some external examinations in addition to their Japanese ability. There are differences among all kinds of "pre-admissions".

A) Unconditional OFFER

The university has judged that the student's academic ability and comprehensive quality are in line with requirements of the university. As long as you complete the preparatory courses, and then obtain a score equivalent to JLPT N2 or above, you can enter the school.
Only one such OFFER can be selected.

B) Conditional OFFER with interview

As long as you complete the preparatory courses, then obtain a score equivalent to JLPT N2 or above, and confirm the learning status of Japanese at the final interview, you are admitted after passing the examination. In addition, when there are subjects taught in English, students will be required to submit their English scores or conduct an interview in English.

C) Conditional OFFER

The university has judged that the student's academic ability and comprehensive quality are in line with requirements of the university. As long as you complete the preparatory courses, and then obtain a score equivalent to JLPT N2 or above, and take other appointed interviews and written tests, finally you will be admitted or not according to this.
You can select two such OFFERs at the same time.

D) JPUE conditional OFFER

Although the university does not give a pre-admission, there would be a higher pass rate if the students applied, so the Examination Committee judges that the possibility of qualifying after the students submitted for the examination would be very high, and issues a qualified notice to the students. As long as you complete the preparatory courses, then get a score equal to JLPT N2 or above, and participate in other appointed interviews and written tests, finally you will be admitted or not according to this.
When choosing such OFFER, you can choose two at the same time.

(2) Grant of Pre-admission

  • A university may grant a number of "pre-admissions" to different departments and under different conditions.
  • Some universities may offer different kinds of "pre-admissions" as mentioned above.
  • The "pre-admission" obtained through JPUE is only applicable to examinations within the scope of JPUE. It is not suitable for other colleges’ entrance examinations.

Pre-admission Winners Meeting

Each region will set up a "guardian's instruction meeting" for guardians of students who have received "pre-admission", and a "University guidance meeting” for students and their guardians to attend at the same time.
For those guardians who still have doubts about studying in Japan, the advantages of studying in Japan are analyzed in a relatively easy-to-understand way, and the "pre-admission" universities that students have obtained, and the requirements for admission, scholarship system, tuition remission system and dormitory system are introduced in detail.

Preparatory Courses

"Preparatory courses" refers to the preparatory courses that students who have obtained “pre-admission” in the JPUE shall take before studying in Japan.
This course starts from basic courses, and uses task-based teaching method. Through the rhythm of 90 minutes for each class of four classes a day, in this independently developed tutorial, students conquer small goals one after another and master proficient oral conversation skills unconsciously. Students who are full of Chinese characters can reach the level of Advanced Japanese in a total of 360 class hours in half a year, while those who are not full of Chinese characters can reach the level of Advanced Japanese in a year of 720 class hours.
Through studying this course, students can finally acquire the Advanced Japanese ability to listen to the teachers normally in Japanese universities, which is equivalent to four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in Japanese proficiency test N2 and above.

The course also includes tutorial classes for the final interview. It is developed to integrate Japanese politics, geography, history and other basic knowledge about Japan, as well as conversation skills and manners that should be paid attention to when interviewing with university teachers, so that every student can obtain the final qualification.

University Enrollment / Final Interview

Students obtaining “Pre-admission” need to take “Preparatory Courses” within six months, so as to acquire their Advanced Japanese ability, then submit their application to the desired school and attend the final interview.

As mentioned above, Pre-admissions are divided into the following four categories.
(1)Unconditional OFFER
(2) Conditional OFFER with interview
(3) Conditional OFFER
(4) JPUE conditional OFFER

The types of Pre-admission that need final interview are (2) and (3) and (4) above.
When obtaining pre-admission for Category 3, you may be asked professional-related questions in the final interview, or you may need to submit additional test scores as supplementary materials in addition to Japanese learning. Such kind of pre-admission is slightly more difficult than other types. Please be careful when choosing.

Admission / Visa Application

After the final interview, the university will conduct the final review. The results are usually notified within a few days. At the same time of notifying the results, the examination committee will hand over the formal "Admission Notice" to the students themselves. Students who receive the "Admission Notice" shall start the admission formalities and pay the admission fees and tuition fees in time. The fees usually need to be remitted to a bank account designated by the university. The "Certificate of Admission" will be given after the university confirms the receipt. Once you have the "Certificate of Admission", you can submit the "application for delivery of certificate of eligibility" to the immigration department of the country of entry and exit in Japan.
Under normal circumstances, it is necessary to submit such written materials as "High School Graduation Certificate", "High School Achievement Certificate", "Household Registration Book", "Funds Payment Certificate", "Deposit Certificate of Funds Payer" and "Income Certificate of Funds Payer". After confirming that all the required items in the application form have been filled out, the application shall be submitted to the eligibility department of the country of entry and exit. The result shall be issued about 2 months later and the "certificate of eligibility" shall be received. Take the "certificate of eligibility" to the local Japanese embassy or consulate to apply for the "Student Visa". Generally, you can obtain the formal visa within a few weeks, and then start preparing for the final departure date.

Go to Japan / College Entrance

The departure ceremonies are held for the students who obtained the final qualification to study abroad in JPUE. This is a special event for classmates and falculties who have spent a hard time together, celebrate the upcoming new step on this special day. As we are about to cross the ocean, we provide useful information within our capacities for the new life that is about to begin.

After obtaining the "student visa", we should start to prepare for going to Japan. At the same time, it is necessary to determine the exact date of going to Japan and proceed to book air tickets. Then, after confirming the university's location, we can explore the surrounding environment and find suitable accommodation. Some universities offer dormitories, but students can rent apartments themselves. If you rent your own house, it is generally recommended that you come to Japan to confirm the house type before signing the contract. However, in most cases, foreign students will need a guarantor to rent the house. If there is no guarantor, you need to use a guarantor company. In addition, after going to Japan, universities normally offers suggestions regarding airport pickup, resident registration, bank account opening, mobile phone signing and so on, but for some large comprehensive universities, it may not be able to take care of every student. If this is the case, please contact the regional operations bureaus to obtain useful information.
